Princess Leia Organa is kidnapped by Darth Vader after intercepting the plans of the dreaded Death Star. Obi-Wan Kenobi, with Luke Skywalker, Han Solo and Chewbacca lead a rescue mission and become entangled in the conflict between the Empire and the Rebel Alliance. Luke Skywalker learns his destiny to become a Jedi, blowing up the Death Star at the Battle of Yavin. Luke ends the tyranny of the Empire, defeating Emperor Palpatine and saving his father, Anakin Skywalker, better known then as Darth Vader at the Battle of Endor.
